Amazon MGM Studios’ Fallout, relocating from New York for its second season, will receive a significant portion of the $152 million in tax credits awarded by the California Film Commission. This move is expected to generate approximately $153 million in qualified expenditures and create around 170 jobs for cast and crew members. This makes Fallout one of the largest relocating projects in the history of the Film and Television Tax Credit Program. The program has successfully attracted 33 relocating series from other states and countries since its inception in 2009.

The California Film Commission awarded tax credits to 12 television projects, including Fallout. These projects encompass one relocating series, three recurring series, and eight new television series. The initiative aims to stimulate the California economy and create employment opportunities within the entertainment industry.

Beyond the cast and crew directly employed by Fallout, the broader impact on California’s economy is substantial. The twelve projects receiving tax credits are projected to inject an estimated $1.1 billion into the state’s economy. This investment will support local businesses and create employment for approximately 2,300 crew members, 2,200 cast members, and provide 50,000 days of work for background actors. Filming is slated to commence later this year, providing crucial opportunities for local workers in the film and television industry. An estimated 1,253 filming days are projected for California, with 39 of those days scheduled outside the Los Angeles 30-Mile Studio Zone in locations like Oxnard, Ventura, Lancaster, and San Diego County. This wider distribution of filming activity further contributes to the economic benefits across the state.
