Rosewood Television, headed by Laurie Zaks, is partnering with ITV Studios America to adapt three novels by Roselle Lim into television series. This marks the first major development project for Zaks under her new agreement with ITV Studios America. Zaks, known for her work on the hit ABC drama “Castle,” launched Rosewood Television in 2021 after seven years as Head of Television at Mandeville Films.

The three novels slated for adaptation are “Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune” (2019), “Vanessa Yu’s Magical Paris Tea Shop” (2020), and “Sophie Go’s Lonely Hearts Club” (2023). Each novel delves into the Chinese-American experience, exploring themes of romance, family dynamics, self-discovery, and magical realism. Lim’s storytelling seamlessly blends cultural richness with heartwarming narratives, creating compelling source material for television adaptation.

Roselle Lim, a Canadian author of Filipino-Chinese heritage, will executive produce the series alongside Laurie Zaks through Rosewood Television. This collaboration ensures the authentic portrayal of the characters and stories that have resonated with readers. Lim’s involvement guarantees that the adaptation remains faithful to the spirit of her original works.

ITV Studios America, the Los Angeles-based scripted division of ITV Studios, has a strong track record in producing quality television content. Their upcoming projects include the highly anticipated Apple series “Franklin,” starring Michael Douglas. The studio’s expertise and resources will be instrumental in bringing Lim’s novels to the screen.

Lucienne Papon, EVP Creative Affairs at ITV Studios America, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the books’ charm, humor, and heartfelt connections. These qualities make them ideal for adaptation into a Rosewood Television Show that appeals to a broad audience. Papon’s statement underscores the studio’s commitment to developing engaging and emotionally resonant storytelling.

Lim also shared her excitement about collaborating with Zaks and ITV Studios America, eagerly anticipating seeing her characters brought to life on screen. This partnership represents a significant step in Lim’s career, expanding the reach of her stories to a wider audience through the medium of television. The collaboration combines Lim’s creative vision with the production expertise of Rosewood Television and ITV Studios America.

Rosewood Television’s previous projects include ABC’s “The Fix,” “The Family,” and “Wicked City,” as well as Netflix’s “Hit & Run.” Zaks’ experience in developing successful television series bodes well for the adaptation of Lim’s novels. Her track record demonstrates an ability to bring compelling stories to life on screen. This expertise, combined with the unique voice of Roselle Lim, creates a promising foundation for the Rosewood television show adaptations.
