Troubleshooting TLC Television Shows: Fixing a TCL Roku TV

by

Many TLC fans enjoy streaming their favorite shows on smart TVs. However, sometimes technical difficulties can interrupt your viewing experience. This guide outlines troubleshooting steps for a TCL Roku TV that stopped working, focusing on common issues and solutions.

The first step in troubleshooting is often clearing the cache. This can be done using a simple remote shortcut: Press the HOME button 5 times, the UP button 1 time, the REWIND button 2 times, and the FAST FORWARD button 2 times. This sequence initiates a cache clearing process and reboots the TV. Repeating this process several times can sometimes resolve the issue.

A hard reboot, achieved by unplugging the TV from its power source while it’s on, can also be effective. Wait a few minutes before plugging it back in to allow the TV to fully reset. After the hard reboot, it’s recommended to clear the cache again using the remote shortcut method.

If the problem persists, disconnecting all external devices, such as USB drives and HDMI cables, can help isolate the issue. Unplug the TV from the wall, remove all connected devices, and leave it unplugged overnight. Restart the TV the next day without any devices attached and clear the cache once more.

In some cases, a more drastic measure might be necessary. Try unplugging the TV and pressing and holding the power button on the TV itself (not the remote) for a full 60 seconds. This action is similar to resetting the BIOS battery on a PC and can sometimes resolve deeper software issues. Leaving the TV unplugged for an extended period, such as two days, after this reset can also be beneficial.
