Can You Lock in AV Channel on a JVC Television?
While JVC TVs don’t have a feature to specifically “lock” an AV channel, you can achieve a similar result by configuring input settings. Often, confusion arises when trying to connect older audio/video equipment to modern TVs. JVC TVs typically use HDMI for primary connections, but also offer composite (yellow, red, white) or component (red, green, blue, red, white) inputs for legacy devices.
To ensure your JVC TV consistently uses the AV input, you need to select the correct input source. This is usually done through the TV’s remote control by pressing a button labeled “Input,” “Source,” or something similar. Navigate to the corresponding AV input (e.g., AV1, AV2, Component) and select it. Some JVC TVs might allow you to rename inputs for clarity. By correctly selecting and potentially renaming the input, you essentially dedicate that input for your AV device.
While using analog connections like composite or component will allow you to connect older equipment, it’s important to understand that these connections do not support the same high-quality audio formats as HDMI. Using analog cables will result in stereo sound, not surround sound.
If your older audio system only has analog audio outputs, you might need a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). This device converts the digital audio signal from your TV’s optical output to analog stereo that your audio system can use.
Keep in mind that using a DAC won’t provide true surround sound; you will still only get stereo audio. However, this setup allows you to use your existing audio equipment with your newer JVC television.
