Why is Joyce Meyer No Longer on Television?

by

Joyce Meyer Ministries has paused its programming on Daystar Television Network due to allegations surrounding the network. Joyce Meyer’s son, Dan Meyer, cited concerns about the allegations and a responsibility to stand for truth as the reason for the pause. The decision follows a controversy involving alleged abuse cover-up at Daystar.

While “Enjoying Everyday Life,” Joyce Meyer’s popular show, has aired daily on Daystar for years, it will no longer be broadcast on the network as of January 13th, 2025. The ministry’s email to staff indicated a potential return to Daystar if the situation is resolved satisfactorily. This departure follows a pattern of other Christian leaders breaking ties with the network after allegations of abuse cover-up surfaced.

Joyce Meyer Ministries emphasized that the decision was influenced by a significant amount of concern from partners and viewers regarding the Daystar situation. The ministry stated its commitment to truth and sensitivity to those affected by the allegations. “Enjoying Everyday Life” will continue to be available on the Joyce Meyer Ministries website, app, YouTube, and other television networks like TBN and Lifetime.

Daystar released a statement expressing love for Joyce Meyer and appreciating her desire for closure. They indicated that her time slots will be filled by other programmers and affirmed their commitment to preaching the Gospel. The network also stated their confidence that the allegations are false and will be disproven.

Several other prominent Christian leaders have recently left Daystar, although not all explicitly cited the scandal as their reason for departure. Some departures were attributed to “ethical deficits” and concerns about the network’s adherence to “God’s standards.” Investigative journalist Julie Roys reported allegations that Daystar President Joni Lamb covered up the abuse of her granddaughter, an allegation Joni Lamb denies.

Other accusations against Joni Lamb include spiritual abuse and financial misconduct, which she also denies. Daystar expressed sadness over the situation and their hope for reconciliation.

Joyce Meyer, an 81-year-old preacher and televangelist, has been open about her own experiences with abuse. This personal history likely contributes to her strong stance against it. Known for her practical approach to faith and impactful speaking, she has become a bestselling author and influential figure in the Christian community.

In a prior instance, Meyer withdrew from an event at Gateway Church due to abuse allegations against its founder. A spokesperson for Joyce Meyer Ministries confirmed her long-standing condemnation of abuse and compassion for survivors. This past action reinforces her current decision to pause programming on Daystar amidst the ongoing controversy.
