“It’s About Time,” a fantasy comedy series airing from 1966 to 1967, was created by Sherwood Schwartz, the mastermind behind “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Brady Bunch.” The 26-episode series followed a similar premise to “Gilligan’s Island,” featuring travelers stranded in a prehistoric jungle. Absurdist plots and humorous situations arose as the characters navigated their new environment. The show even shared sets, props, and music with “Gilligan’s Island,” solidifying its connection to Schwartz’s earlier work.
Jack Mullaney starred, often displaying goofy characteristics reminiscent of Gilligan. Joe E. Ross, known for his rugged humor, played Gronk. Imogene Coca, a talented comedic actress, played Shag/Shad, though her role felt underutilized. Mike Mazurki and Cliff Norton further enhanced the comedic ensemble, with Norton portraying the authoritative caveman boss.
The show’s premise, centered around time travel and the clash between modern man and prehistoric cavemen, was unique.
