Peacock is developing a limited series, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, about an armed robbery during Muhammad Ali’s 1970 Atlanta comeback fight. Kevin Hart will star and executive produce the fight night series, based on the iHeart podcast of the same name. The series will explore how the crime impacted the victim and the city of Atlanta, delving into the robber’s life and the Black detective determined to solve the case.

This fight night series reunites Hart and Peacock after his talk show, Hart to Heart, and stand-up special, Reality Check. Veteran producer Will Packer joins the project, reinforcing Peacock’s commitment to quality content.

Shaye Ogbonna (The Chi) created the series and will serve as showrunner with Jason Horwitch (The Calling, Echo 3). Craig Brewer (Dolemite Is My Name) will direct the first two episodes of this compelling fight night series. Universal Television, Will Packer Media, and Doghouse Pictures are producing, ensuring a strong production team. iHeartPodcasts’ Conal Byrne, Will Pearson, and Carrie Lieberman will also executive produce.

Executive producers include Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein (Hartbeat); Sabrina Wind (Will Packer Media); and Brewer, Keating, and Lars Jacobson. Tiffany Brown and Kenny Burns will co-executive produce. With a strong team, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist promises to be a captivating addition to Peacock. This fight night series will deliver a compelling narrative exploring crime, sports, and societal impact.

The series will tell “the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life, but an entire city’s destiny.” This fight night series will delve into the crime, the investigation, and the lasting consequences.
