The iconic sitcom Married… with Children remains a comedic masterpiece. This article explores the careers of the main cast members before, during, and after the show’s eleven-season run.

Ed O’Neill, the unforgettable Al Bundy, received two Golden Globe nominations for his portrayal of the shoe-selling, wisecracking patriarch. Following Married… with Children, O’Neill continued his successful career with roles in films like The Bone Collector and Spartan. However, his most prominent post-Married role was as Jay Pritchett in the sitcom Modern Family, earning him three Emmy nominations and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. More recently, O’Neill took on a dramatic role in the FX miniseries The Sterling Affairs.

Katey Sagal, who played the equally iconic Peggy Bundy, received four Golden Globe nominations for her performance. Before Married… with Children, Sagal was a backing vocalist for various artists, including Bette Midler. Her post-Married career includes roles in 8 Simple Rules, Sons of Anarchy (for which she won a Golden Globe), and The Conners. She also voiced the character Leela in the animated series Futurama.

David Faustino portrayed Bud Bundy, the often scheming but ultimately lovable son. Since the show ended, Faustino has amassed numerous film and television credits, including voice acting roles in The Legend of Korra and Dragons: Race to the Edge. He also created and starred in the web series Star-ving, featuring guest appearances from his Married… with Children co-stars.

Christina Applegate, who played the ditzy yet attractive Kelly Bundy, has enjoyed a successful career in both film and television. Her notable film roles include Anchorman, The Sweetest Thing, and Bad Moms. On television, she starred in Jesse, Samantha Who?, and earned Emmy nominations for her role in Dead to Me.

Ted McGinley joined the cast later as Jefferson D’Arcy, Marcy’s husband. Prior to Married… with Children, McGinley was known for his roles in Happy Days, The Love Boat, and Dynasty. His post-Married career includes roles in Sports Night, The West Wing, Hope & Faith, and appearances in various other shows and films.

Amanda Bearse played Marcy D’Arcy (originally Rhoades), Peggy’s feminist neighbor and best friend. In addition to acting, Bearse directed numerous episodes of Married… with Children and other television series, including Dharma & Greg and Reba.

David Garrison, who played Steve Rhoades, Marcy’s first husband, is primarily a stage actor. While he is recognized for his role on Married… with Children, his extensive theater credits include a Tony nomination for A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine and notable performances in Wicked.
