Guess the Celebrity: We Are Family Game Show
Like “The Masked Singer,” “We Are Family” features hidden celebrities, but with a unique twist: 100 audience contestants compete for cash prizes by guessing the celebrities’ identities. Clues about the celebrities are provided throughout the show, similar to “The Masked Singer,” but the celebrities on “We Are Family” aren’t always professional singers.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson and his mother, “We Are Family” offers a $150,000 prize per episode. The show unfolds in two rounds, featuring celebrity relatives singing solo and then in duets with their famous family members. Clues, including silhouettes revealed through a “super sphere,” help contestants deduce the hidden celebrities’ identities. Contestants get two guesses per round.
Correct guesses in round one yield a split of $20,000 among the winners. A correct guess in the second round splits $30,000. The fastest correct guesser in each round earns the title of “star player” and a chance to win even more. The “star player” attempts to identify a final celebrity performing a duet with a relative, using five provided clues. A correct guess after the first clue wins a whopping $100,000, with decreasing prize amounts for subsequent correct guesses. An incorrect guess results in no prize.
The audience remains consistent across multiple episodes, allowing contestants to accumulate winnings throughout the season. This adds a layer of strategy and encourages viewers to follow along week after week.
While the celebrity relatives’ vocal abilities vary, the performances are generally enjoyable, and the show often features heartwarming interactions between family members. Anthony Anderson interacts with the audience, soliciting guesses that range from insightful to hilariously incorrect, adding to the show’s entertainment value. Viewers should avoid the cast listing to prevent spoilers and be aware that some comments from relatives might be misleading red herrings.
