Delving into the Dark: Black Cab’s Storyline
Black Cab follows Tony, a former teacher navigating the complexities of job loss, a broken marriage, and profound loneliness. Finding solace in the voice of radio host Lawrence, Tony’s admiration quickly spirals into an unhealthy obsession. He sees Lawrence as a confidante, someone who understands his struggles.
Tony’s connection to Lawrence deepens after he calls into the radio show, becoming a regular “friend of the show.” However, Lawrence’s words begin to take a dangerous hold on Tony, influencing his perceptions and actions. As the lines between reality and Lawrence’s on-air persona blur, Tony realizes the man he idolizes may not be who he seems. The Black Cab Television Show explores this descent into obsession and the devastating consequences that follow.
Meet the Minds Behind Black Cab
The series boasts a talented team both in front of and behind the camera. Robert Glenister (Sherwood, Spooks) stars as Tony, capturing the character’s vulnerability and descent into obsession. Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers, Gotham) plays the charismatic yet enigmatic radio host Lawrence. Suzanne Packer (Casualty) plays Rosa, a cafe worker who offers Tony a glimmer of hope amidst his struggles.
The creative team includes screenwriter Nick Saltrese (A Prayer Before Dawn) and director Diarmuid Goggins (Kin, Bulletproof). Sam Tipper-Hale and David Nath serve as Executive Producers for Story Films, with David Collins representing Samson Films. Alex Jones (Penance) is on board as producer, and All3Media International will manage global distribution.
