How to Go On a Television Show: My Journey to Creating an Environmental Docuseries

by

Embarking on a new adventure, I’m thrilled to announce the production of my episodic documentary TV show focused on environmentalism and the joy of living. Inspired by my book, “Go Gently,” and its accompanying community, this project takes the form of a West Coast road trip, co-hosted by the incredible Pattie Gonia. We’re meeting a diverse range of individuals dedicated to protecting our planet and celebrating life’s simple pleasures.

This dream is being realized thanks to a collaboration with Daniel Sharp of Dash Pictures, the production company behind “Fantastic Friends,” featuring my fellow Harry Potter castmates, James and Oliver Phelps. My connection with Daniel stemmed from participating in the Iceland episode of “Fantastic Friends,” an experience I deeply cherished. Following the publication of “Go Gently” and my foray into YouTube content creation, I approached Daniel with the concept for this show. His enthusiastic agreement launched us into production this week!

Sharing this journey with Pattie Gonia is an absolute honor. Her dedication to fostering inclusivity and safety for the LGBTQ+ community in outdoor spaces is profoundly inspiring. Pattie challenges the traditionally masculine and exclusive nature of outdoor activities, demonstrating that everyone can forge a unique connection with nature on their own terms. Her passion for the outdoors is contagious!

Our road trip commenced a few days ago, marking the culmination of nearly a year of development. From initial concept to meticulous planning of guest appearances and activities, the past few months have been intensely focused on bringing this show to life. The intricate logistics have been expertly managed by a phenomenal production team. I’m incredibly excited for the encounters with inspiring individuals and the breathtaking landscapes that await us over the next three weeks. Filming across diverse environments during the unpredictable weather of March and April presents a challenge, but one I wholeheartedly embrace.

Throughout the filming process, I’ll be sharing updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses whenever possible. Stay tuned for more exciting news about this incredible adventure as we explore the beauty of nature and the people who dedicate their lives to preserving it.
