BBC Television’s Former Home Welcomes Publicis Media

by

Publicis Media, a global media agency network, is relocating its six agency brands and over 2,000 employees to Television Centre in West London, the iconic former headquarters of Bbc Television. This move signifies a significant shift for the company and underscores the revitalization of the area as a media hub.

A Modern Media Hub in a Historic Location

Following extensive renovations by Stanhope, Mitsui, and AIMCo, Television Centre has been transformed into a state-of-the-art media complex. The £1.5 billion investment has breathed new life into the historic site, making it a fitting location for a dynamic media company like Publicis Media. The move to 2 Television Centre, encompassing 212,000 square feet across seven floors, will allow each of Publicis Media’s agencies – Starcom, Zenith, Digitas, Spark Foundry, Blue 449, and Performics – to occupy their own dedicated floor, fostering individual brand identities and cultures within a secure environment. Crucially, this layout also facilitates seamless access to shared resources and support functions.

Joining a Thriving Media Community

Publicis Media will be joining a vibrant media community at Television Centre. The BBC retains a presence with three operational studios on site, continuing to produce flagship programming. ITV Studios also broadcasts daytime television from the location. Additionally, Television Centre houses the headquarters of BBC Worldwide and The White Company, further solidifying its status as a media powerhouse. The recently opened White City House, a private members’ club with a 45-bedroom hotel, adds another dimension to this thriving ecosystem.

Publicis Media’s Transformational Move

Sue Frogley, CEO of Publicis Media UK, and Phil Georgiadis, Chairman, are spearheading the relocation project, slated for completion by the second quarter of 2019. Frogley emphasized the strategic importance of the move, stating that it will position Publicis Media as a leader in the industry. The new space is designed to foster collaboration and agility, bringing together diverse brands and specialized practices under one roof. This consolidation aims to provide clients with unparalleled expertise and innovative solutions in a rapidly evolving media landscape. According to Frogley, this transformational decision reflects the company’s commitment to adapting to the changing dynamics of the media industry.

Television Centre: A Symbol of Media Innovation

David Camp, Chief Executive of Stanhope, welcomed Publicis Media to Television Centre, highlighting the development’s success in attracting leading media companies and contributing to the wider regeneration of White City. The transformation of Television Centre into a modern media hub, alongside the growth of a new business district for tech, creative, and life sciences companies at White City Place, signifies a significant revitalization of the area. The presence of Publicis Media, along with other key players in the media industry, reinforces Television Centre’s legacy as a center for innovation and creativity. This strategic move positions Publicis Media at the heart of a dynamic media ecosystem, poised to leverage the collaborative energy and resources of this revitalized hub.
