Remote Control for Westinghouse Television Model LTV 32w3
The Westinghouse LTV-32w3HD, a 32-inch LCD HDTV released in late 2006, offered several upgrades from its predecessor, the LTV-32w1. Key improvements included an integrated ATSC (High Definition) tuner and a redesigned chassis with a cleaner, black front bezel. The LTV-32w3HD also featured Westinghouse’s SpineDesign™ input layout, which aimed to simplify component connections and potentially improve picture quality by shortening the signal path.
A notable feature of the LTV-32w3HD was its well-designed remote control. It provided dedicated buttons for each input and three customizable “Favorites” buttons for quick access to preferred channels. The user-friendly remote contributed to the overall positive user experience of the television.
The SpineDesign™ input layout placed connections on the sides of the panel, making them easily accessible. This design was a significant advantage over many other flat-panel displays that had rear-facing inputs, often requiring awkward maneuvering to connect components, especially when wall-mounted.
The LTV-32w3HD boasted a native resolution of 1366×768, sufficient for displaying all HDTV sources available at the time. With a rated contrast ratio of 1000:1 and an 8ms response time, the television aimed to deliver sharp, vibrant images with minimal motion blur. A 60,000-hour lamp life was also a significant improvement over older LCD models.
Connectivity options included composite video, S-video, two component video inputs, DVI, HDMI, VGA, and a cable input. The inclusion of both DVI and HDMI offered flexibility for connecting various high-definition sources. The television also featured 10-bit video processing for enhanced image quality.
The LTV-32w3HD’s built-in ATSC and NTSC tuners allowed for viewing over-the-air broadcasts without an external cable or satellite box. However, the lack of a cable card slot limited its functionality for cable subscribers, requiring a separate set-top box to access cable channels. The initial channel scanning process also proved somewhat cumbersome, requiring manual navigation through the menu rather than a straightforward automated setup. Despite some minor drawbacks, the Westinghouse LTV-32w3HD offered a compelling combination of features and performance for its price point, making it a strong contender in the 32-inch LCD HDTV market. The included remote control, with its intuitive layout and dedicated buttons, further enhanced the user experience.
